The Right Course – new training initiative for young offenders at HMP/YOI Isis

The Right Course is a new initiative, which seeks to transform staff restaurants in prisons into high street like businesses using existing facilities and equipment and at no cost to the tax payers.

The restaurants will be run by prisoners for the benefit of all in the prison system. Launched with a special showcase event on 21 February 2017 at HMP/YOI Isis, with chef Chris Thompson from Zelman Meats, and Fred Sirieix from Galvin’s at Window. Working with a team of twenty young offenders, they delivered an outstanding meal to some 50 guests.

Trailblazers Mentoring are one of the partners for this new pilot programme. It’s aim is to give young offenders hospitality training a qualification, and employment opportunities on release.
