When measuring our impact it’s very easy to focus solely on the statistics or economics – see further down this page – but they really only tell half the story. The other, more important half is about the young individuals behind those numbers. It takes a lot of guts, effort and determination for a young offender to change their mindset and save themselves from spending life in a never ending criminal cycle. So although we are very proud of the statistics our mentoring initiatives achieve, we prefer to measure our true impact on a more personal level first. The real success is watching a mentee succeed and change their life around. And that’s worth much, much more than a number.
My future is so big I can’t even see where it will take me. And that’s what excites me.” – Cornai’s story

Over the past 21 years our mentors have used their knowledge and experience to create a best-in-breed set of mentoring skills which have managed to reduce our mentee re-offending rate to just 18%, compared to the national average of 56%.
In financial terms, this means that for every 100 young offenders who are released Trailblazers saves the economy approximately £2.25M.
