André’s Story

André has been a mentor with us since 2017 – in this time he has worked with 6 young men.

André says “I have watched good people fall prey to challenging circumstances and consequently commit offences. For this reason, three years ago I decided to become a mentor to help correct the paths of young people facing similar obstacles.
With each of my mentees I have used various activities, toolkits and programmes to first build rapport and then address their individual challenges. However, I have found that, often, simply engaging in casual conversation can also make for a productive session. And even during these conversations, there are moments when I can offer some practical advice either in general or for a specific situation, drawing from the content of the above toolkits. It’s in these organic moments especially that I truly see the mentorship have some impact.
I have heartily enjoyed my experience with Trailblazers and will continue mentoring.”
