Job Title: Project Manager – 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Salary range £24,000 - £25,000 p.a.

Hours: There is flexibility in start and finish times with working hours normally between the hours of 0800 – 1700. It is expected that the post-holder will work flexibly around contracted hours to meet business requirements and deadlines. No overtime is payable, although TOIL may be taken with prior permission from line manager for additional hours worked. Occasional weekend and evening working will form an essential part of the role. Holiday – 23days p.a. plus eight public holidays

Role Summary
As project manager you will provide effective and timely leadership for the day to day management of the mentoring project within HMYOI Aylesbury. This will involve:
Support and manage existing volunteers
Recruiting, training and developing new volunteers when required
Identifying potential mentees (prisoners) and enrolling them in to the programme
Facilitating and supporting the mentoring relationship both inside the prison and within the community when the prisoner is released
Developing links with prison staff and other agencies such as DART (Drug & Alcohol Recovery Team), Pathways and Chaplaincy
Attending and participating in meetings regarding the successful rehabilitation of prisoners
Manage all internal monitoring systems to ensure the safety of volunteers and prisoners on the programme
Meet annual targets in terms of mentor recruitment, prisoner enrolment onto the programme, matches and successful outcomes for mentees

Person Specification
Experience and knowledge required: Essential
The ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders
A proven self-starter with a high level of self-motivation
Ability to work in a challenging environment
Good IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Personable in approach and a good people manager
Excellent administration
Good organisational skills
Project management experience

Preferred Experience
Experience of working within the youth or criminal justice sector
Experience of work with challenging, hard to engage or disaffected groups of people
An understanding of the key issues facing young offenders and the challenges they face in desisting from re-offending
Experience of the voluntary sector and ethos of volunteering
The successful applicant will be cleared through HMPPS Pre-employment checks.

Education: A-Level or equivalent (Preferred)

Licence: Driving License (Required)
