Become a Mentor

Trailblazers currently has over 80 volunteer mentors and are always keen to hear from people who are interested in mentoring a person in prison and as they transition back to the community following release.

What can you expect?

After successfully passing through our vetting and selection process, we provide full training, mentor shadowing and a whole host of information to support you. You’ll work with your carefully matched mentee in the prison for 6 months, and up to 12 months in the community after their release. You’ll be on hand throughout this time, meeting them every week inside the prison and out. Note that you will be reimbursed by Trailblazers for reasonable expenses (e.g., travel for mentoring sessions).

Your mentee will want to make a positive change and will be prepared to provide the hard work, courage and commitment needed. As a mentor, you’ll need to provide them with the support and means to make their change a reality.
